Dorothy Harrison Braun

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Sussex County, Delaware, Dorothy Harrison Braun showed an interest in art at a very early age. Childhood summers spent with her grandmother in Clarksville, Delaware, instilled in her a deep appreciation of the Eastern Shore. Her roots go deep in this area and she often paints quaint older homes, as well as, farms, dilapidated buildings, sundrenched beaches, boats, marshes, and the wetland. Self-taught in oils, she changed mediums after her introduction to watercolors. Having found her passion, she has continued to hone her skills for the past 34 years, in what she refers to as a "very challenging medium". This award winning artist devoted herself full time to her painting, achieving a luminous quality in her work with the use of transparent colors and a series of glazes. Dorothy specializes in house portraits, and more recently, the human figure, never straying too far from her interpretations of our disappearing land and waterscapes. She is a confident, self taught artist who enjoys sharing her talents with serious students at her home studio in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Dorothy can be contacted at 302-539-2045.
